We’re so excited to offer PRP, or platelet-rich plasma, treatments at Blend Clinic. This is a therapy that uses your own body’s growth factors to stimulate regeneration and renewal.
Treatment using plasma increases the nutrition of your skin. Platelet growth factors can stimulate different mechanisms to produce more collagen, and to improve the quality of existing collagen, effectively minimising pores, fine lines and wrinkles while evening-out skin tone and texture. It regenerates your skin and slows down the ageing process. Think of it as injecting a more youthful you back into your system.
What Is It?
Your blood is made up of four separate components, and each performs a different function. Plasma is an essential carrier of nutrients in your body, and that’s why it’s our secret ingredient in treatments – it’s full of growth factors.
In fact, to get technical we use the Arthrex ACP, or Autologous Conditioned Plasma, Double Syringe System at Blend – a specialist system proven to be better than basic PRP. It is a little more costly than the average PRP, but the techniques and tools used in the Arthrex system means there is no risk of cross-infection, less risk of damage to the plasma, and the treatment of the blood results is much stronger for use in the therapy.
Benefits
PRP therapy can be incredibly successful in treating those dark circles and bags under your eyes. Sure, there’s plenty of home remedies to sort this one out – who hasn’t used a bit of Preparation H under the eyes in an emergency? – but PRP is having great results in many anti-ageing treatments.
We’re not talking about fillers here, nor any chemical-based injections or invasive surgeries that can scar. Fillers are not for every one and can make you feel very nervous especially so close to the eye.
Traditionally, eye bags were treated with surgery, fat removal or even laser treatments, each of which has its own advantages – but they’re also invasive and costly with no guaranteed result at the end. PRP, on the other hand, uses your own body to regenerate and stimulate new collagen and renewed skin growth.
The number of treatments needed depends on the individual and how well they respond, but as new capillaries are formed and collagen is regenerated patients will start to notice the difference. We generally see between two and four injections over several months brings the best results.
